Lalita filled up two jugs with water. The volume of water in the first jug was 20% more than the volume of water in the second jug. If the first jug contained 900ml , how much water was there in the second jug?~~~~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~~~~~~
Think this is an easy question? Try it for yourself. Is your water in second jug 720ml or 750 ml? If you have 720ml, its because you took the second jug to be 80% and the first jug to be 100% (20% more).
100% ----> 900ml
80% -----> 900/ 100% X 80%
= 720 ml
Yet, however, if you take 120% for the first jug and 100% for the second jug (20% more), you'll get 750ml.
120% ----> 900ml
100% ----> 900/120% X 100%
= 750ml

Now the problem is not how much water second jug contain, but is the second jug 80% or 100% of the first jug?
Okay, the first thought that came to my mind is of course 80%. I dun know why, but I just took the second jug to be 20% less of the first jug to be 80%.
But you see, if you have 20% more than me, and I have $100. You would have $120 right? Then in this situation, I took my $100 to be 100% and you would have 120%.
So how much water does the second jug contains exactly? 720 ml or 750ml?
